Celebrities Go Nude

The term 'nude celebrities' used to be linked to sex scandals, porn tapes and surreptitious paparazzi pictures in cheap magazines.
But no longer. Celebrities are now openly saying they like being naked, not to have sex or to titillate voyeurs, but because it is pleasant and comfortable.
Oscar winner Helen Mirren is the most outspoken of the new crop of naturist celebrities, but she is not alone. Several other stars at different levels of fame, such as Hayden Panettiere of TV hit 'Heroes' and Alicia Silverstone, have said they enjoy nude sunbathing. Hispanic American star Eva Mendes prefers gardening in the nude.
While Taiwan is not the base for many international superstars and sunbathing is really out of fashion here, there is still hope. In today's edition of a major newspaper, the Liberty Times, a model identified as Liz says that in her native Paraguay she used to sunbathe naked every week. She may not be a household name yet, but she's certainly on her way up, having been chosen as the face for the current sales campaign by the Breeze shopping mall. If only more famous people like Liz owned up to promote non-sexual nudity, naturism could come a long way toward acceptance here.
